Baker disappointed at SNP’s A92 snub
Claire Baker, Labour MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife, has expressed disappointment after the SNP Government closed the door on dualling the A92 around Glenrothes.
Local groups including the Glenrothes Area Futures Group have been campaigning for a major upgrade to the A92 following concerns over the road’s safety and rates of accidents. Claire Baker has helped them make their case in parliament including speaking in the public petitions committee on the subject.
However, following a request for a meeting with the SNP Transport Minister, Stewart Stevenson, Ms Baker received a response snubbing a meeting and rejecting the prospect of dualling the road around Glenrothes.
Questioning the Transport Minister in Parliament, Claire expressed disappointment that the project had now been rejected by the SNP.
Commenting, Claire Baker said:
“The SNP have now closed the door on dualling the A92 around Glenrothes, despite a great deal of pressure from people in the area. Regardless of government assurances, there is still concern about the safety of the road and reports that many local people avoid using it for fear of accidents, especially during busy times.
“While the SNP seem to have closed the door on this project I’m sure there are many local people that will not be at all happy with this, and will not leave it there.
”This decision is a let down for people in Glenrothes and yet further proof that the SNP Government are not responding to the priorities of people in Glenrothes.
